The joint statement was signed by the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, the Audit Commission, the DoH, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN).
- providing clinicians with information to help them better understand NHS finance and also highlighting examples of the benefits which arise from greater involvement,
- producing practical guidance on the action finance staff need to take to encourage better engagement, and,
- supporting the development of financial management competencies for nursing staff.
The BMA was not invited to sign the statement.
