GPs and nurses awarded New Year's honours

GPs, nurse consultants and a practice nurse are among the 966 people recognised in the New Year's Honours List.

OBEs are awarded to Dr James Cave, a GP in Newbury, Berkshire, and nurse consultant for older people Dr Nadia Chambers from Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust both for ‘services to healthcare’.

GPs with MBEs are Dr David Adey, from Southampton, Dr Parvin Bhatia, from Richmond, south east London, Dr Rosalie Dunn, from Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Dr Surinder Jolly, from Manchester, and Dr Alan Melville, from Fife, all for ‘services to healthcare’.

Nurse consultants Dawn Chapman, from Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, and Judith Cottam, from Bedford NHS Trust, and practice nurse Doreen Meiklem, from West Lothian, also received MBEs for ‘services to healthcare’.
