GPs must not let opportunities pass them by

GPs must not let the opportunities of the NHS reorganisation slip through their hands, the chairman of the NHS Alliance has said.

Dr Dixon: It is not a time for the critical or the cautious

Speaking at the NHS Alliance conference in Bournemouth on Thursday, Dr Michael Dixon said the NHS and its future was in GPs’ hands.

He said GPs should not allow fear to get in the way of the NHS’ ‘finest hour’.

‘How long have you waited to be freed of that centralist grip? How long have you waited for a real chance to improve the health of your communities and the services they receive?

‘The question is simple. Do you care and do you dare? If the answer is yes then we can claim the future. It is not a time for the critical or the cautious.’
