GPs should listen to patients' demand for seven-day services, says LMC leader

GPs need to listen to patients who demand seven day services, an LMC leader has said.

Rochdale and Bury LMC CEO Dr Mohammed Jiva said the seven-day pilot he leads does not mean more work for GPs.

'Patients want it,' he said. 'We need to listen to patients first hand.'

Patients who can’t visit the GP in normal hours also have clinical needs which need addressing, said Dr Jiva.

'It’s about what the public want, not what we want.'

GPs in his area were asking for seven day appointments, he added.
