The change will be particularly greeted by nurses who are due to have their 2.5 per cent pay rise staged through the coming year. But GP trainers and educators will also benefit.
Trainers in England will receive a rise of 2 per cent next year with 1.5 per cent from April and the remainder from November. Scottish GPs will receive the full amount from April.
Speaking at a nursing conference last week, Scotland's health minister Andy Kerr said: 'The finances of NHS Scotland are on a sound footing. While not stepping outside the overall UK negotiated pay system, on reflection I am able to announce that we'll be meeting the recommendations of the pay review bodies in full from April 1.'
