Dr Clifford Kay has been awarded the RCGP Discovery Prize for his contribution to research into women's health, in particular the effect of combined oral contraception.
Dr Kay, right, is pictured being presented with the award by RCGP president Professor David Haslam at a dinner at the RCGP.
Receiving the award, Dr Kay, now retired and from Manchester, said he had completely failed to appreciate what he was taking on when he began his studies. The research had, he said, led him ‘on a most wonderful adventure which took me around the world'.
