Sanjay was nominated in the new business news journalist of the year section, one of nine categories of the awards which were held in Vinopolis, central London, on Friday.
He was shortlisted thanks to three exclusive stories: First in-practice abortions 'by spring' published in January, Flu jabs extended to pregnant women in September and Dementia flagged as priority but services are cut by PCTs published in October.
All stories gained national coverage, and two of them made national newspaper front pages.
Sanjay's nomination rounds off an excellent year for the GP team. Clinical news editor Tom Moberly won medical journalist of the year and senior news reporter Tom Ireland was best medical newcomer.
