GP newspaper cited for two key awards

GP newspaper has been shortlisted for two of the most coveted magazine industry awards.

The newspaper is shortlisted for weekly business magazine of the year, and Dr Liam Farrell is shortlisted for columnist of the year (business media) in the annual Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) awards.

Dr Farrell, whose columns feature darkly humorous tales of life as a GP in Northern Ireland, will be hoping to repeat previous success - he was PPA business columnist of the year in 2005.

GP newspaper editor Emma Bower said: 'The PPA awards are the top awards in the industry so it is a real achievement for GP newspaper to be shortlisted in two categories.'

The PPA award winners will be announced on 30 June.
