How have GP leaders been rated by the CQC?

The CQC has now rated more than half of practices in England, including some that employ the UK's highest-profile GPs. Find out below how GP leaders' practices have been rated by the CQC.

The CQC has committed to visiting, inspecting and rating all GP practices in England - and those belonging to GP leaders are no exception.

GPonline has explored how the practices where RCGP and GPC leaders work as partners and salaried GPs have been rated by the CQC, and will continue to update this page as more top GPs' practices are assessed.

Dr Maureen Baker, RCGP chairwoman

Dr Maureen Baker
  • The James Street Family Practice, Louth, Lincolnshire
  • Inspected October 2014

Dr Baker works as a salaried GP at the James Street Family Practice, which was rated ‘good’ overall and for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Dr Clare Gerada, BMA council, former RCGP chairwoman

Dr Clare Gerada
  • Hurley Clinic Partnership, London
  • Allerton Road Medical Centre – good
  • Docklands Medical Centre – good
  • Hurley Clinic – good
  • New Cross Health Centre - good

Dr Gerada is a partner at the Hurley Clinic Partnership, which runs at least 13 practices across London. Four have been rated to date, all of which were rated good – including its flagship Hurley Clinic practice in South London.

Dr Beth McCarron, GPC negotiator

  • The Lander Medical Practice, Truro, Cornwall
  • Inspected August 2015

Dr McCarron is one of nine GP partners at the Lander Medical Practice, which was rated ‘good’ overall and for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Dr Helen Stokes-Lampard, RCGP honorary treasurer

  • Cloisters Medical Practice, Lichfield, Staffordshire
  • Inspected February 2015

Dr Stokes-Lampard is one of four partners at the Cloisters Medical Practice, which was rated ‘good’ overall and for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Dr Richard Vautrey, GPC deputy chairman

  • Meanwood Group Practice, Leeds, Yorkshire
  • Inspected March 2016

Dr Vautrey is one of nine GP partners at the Meanwood Group Practice, which was rated ‘good’ overall and for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
