Dr Muhammad Iqbal, a GP at the Kensington Street Health Centre in Bradford, said the language barrier meant recent arrivals are often unaware of NHS and social services. Many miss out on vaccinations and other services that affect health.
To boost awareness, Dr Iqbal decided to launch EuroRYTM, a radio station that will broadcast in languages including Polish, Czech and Slovak.
The station won't just provide entertainment and information, he said. ‘It'll also to help people come closer and feel part of the wider community.' EuroRYTM will begin broadcasting in January.
