It calls for feedback on four key areas:
- Consent and confidentiality
- Relationships with patients and carers and the wider family
- Doctors working in partnership
- Doctors’ knowledge, skills and experience
GMC chief executive Niall Dickson said: ‘We are keen for anyone who has been involved in child protection to share their views and experiences. We want to know what is and what is not working and how matters could be improved.’
Respondents can submit evidence to the consultation until 24 September.
A GMC working group will develop draft guidance and conduct a further consultation on this next year. Final guidance will be published at the end of 2011.
