Emergency hormonal contraception service specification for pharmacy

The PSNC and DoH have published an national template service specification for pharmacy-based emergency hormonal contraception (EHC).

Emergency contraception
The service specifications have been produced within the programme to develop the pharmacy contract. The provision of EHC within the community pharmacy setting is helping to reduce the number of unwanted teenage pregnancies and is part of the DoH target to reduce the under-18 conception rate by 50 per cent by 2010.

The template aims to assist LPCs and PCTs who are considering developing EHC services.
