Chimonanthus praecox

  • Wintersweet.
  • Yellow flowers, stained purple inside.
  • Sweetly scented, bare branches in winter.
  • Blooms December to February.
  • Fertile, well-drained soil.
  • Grow on warm sheltered wall, height 4m.
  • Fast-growing. Keep in full sun.
  • Minimal pruning required, remove misplaced or dead branches late spring.

Jasminum nudiflorum

  • Winter Jasmine.
  • Yellow flowers appear on bare stems
  • Bright green stems, dark green shoots
  • Blooms January to March
  • Fertile, well-drained soil.
  • Easy to train on wires or a trellis. Height 3m.
  • Full or partial sun. Average rate of growth.
  • Prune back after flowering, cut back about a quarter of the old shoots to the base.
