Trainers in England are being left out of pocket while their counterparts in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have either received the payments or are expected to.
Deaneries in England are acting in concert and holding back the £750 grants claiming they have not been given any additional funds. ‘They have decided that until all can pay, none can pay,’ said GPC negotiator Dr Richard Vautrey.
He added that Northern Ireland was paying the grant. Trainers in Wales and Scotland will also receive their grant.
Dr Roger Burns, chairman of the Association of Course Organisers and a GP in Haverfordwest, South West Wales, said: ‘This is a regional not a national health service in education as well as in healthcare.’
