A number of the report's proposals, such as pilots for integrated care organisations combining health and social care, are likely to require additional funding.
Lord Darzi told a meeting at the King's Fund this morning that the planned 4 per cent annual growth in the NHS's £110 billion budget would pay for many of these developments.
But he added, ‘We have got a dedicated pot of money that we're not quite ready to announce yet.’
Lord Darzi also told the meeting that ‘the change that will make the most difference is the reform of the quality framework’.
Better information on clinical quality would "exploit the competitive nature of clinicians" to improve care, he said.
