Consulting skills DVD now available to buy online

Our popular educational DVD, Effective Consulting - The Five Key Tasks, second edition is now available

The DVD is written and presented by GP communications expert and RCGP examiner Dr Peter Tate, and aims to help doctors improve their consulting skills by working with patients to achieve more effective consultation.

The second edition includes a 16 page booklet guiding you through each task.

Five common scenarios were scripted and filmed using professional actors to demonstrate the five key tasks that need to be tackled.

Dr Tate then examines the successes and failures of each consultation, commenting on clips and providing learning points and topics for further discussion.

This DVD is ideal for doctors at any stage of their careers seeking to enhance their consulting skills for training, CPD or revalidation purposes, and can earn you two CPD credits. The format is also highly suitable for group learning.

About the author: Dr Peter Tate was an MRCGP examiner from 1981 and responsible for the introduction of the video consultation module in 1996. He was convenor of the panel of examiners from 2002 to 2006. He is the author of The Doctor’s Communication Handbook, now in its 6th edition, and co-author of The Consultation and The New Consultation, published by Oxford University Press.
