Colleagues hail 'tireless work' of former Welsh LMC chairman

Colleagues of longstanding former Dyfed Powys LMC chairman Dr David Roberts have spoken of his outstanding service to the profession, after he passed away on 15 October.

Dr Roberts was a role model to many GPs

Dr Roberts, of Teifi Surgery in Llandysul, Wales was chairman of Dyfed Powys LMC for 15 years, from its formation in 1996 until he stepped down in March 2011. He had previously been chairman of Dyfed LMC from 1986 until 1996.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed Powys LMC said: ‘Dr Roberts was a tireless worker on behalf of his colleagues, representing the best interests of patients and the profession in Ceredigion and the wider mid and west Wales.'

Dr Roberts was a prominent member of advisory panels set up to work with the Welsh Assembly government on primary care development.

'He was a member of the Welsh Medical Committee and was the chairman of the GP national specialty advisory group in Wales,' the Dyfed LMC spokeswoman said. 'He was a role model to many GPs and very much respected by his GP colleagues, health service staff and managers for whom he was always willing to offer wise words of advice.

'Dr Roberts was one of the last true gentlemen, and he will be much missed by all who knew him.'
