Catheter User Guides From Astra Tech

Astra Tech has produced two user guides for people needing to carry out Intermittent Self Catheterisation (ISC).

Astra Tech produces a wide range of catheters for carrying out ISC, called LoFric®. The company has put together a male and female version of its user guide.  The guides cover topics including: what is ISC, how the bladder works and what can go wrong with the bladder.  They include colour illustrations, which clearly show how to prepare and insert a catheter. The guides also include questions and answers, a personalised care plan and useful contacts.

The user guides explain things people need to consider when choosing a catheter.  This includes safety, the catheter coating and long-term consequences.  Astra Tech’s LoFric is the most tried, tested and documented hydrophilic catheter and the only one currently available that has independent long-term clinical evidence to support its use. LoFric is also proven to reduce, as far as possible, the risk of pain, damage to the urethra and associated complications over time.

Astra Tech has produced the user guides as part of its education and support programme for healthcare professionals and catheter users.  The booklets have been designed to complement the ISC instructions and information people receive from their healthcare professional.

To obtain copies of the User Guides, or for more information on LoFric catheters, contact Astra Tech Ltd on 0800 652 3350 or log on to www.lofric.co.uk
