Carers guidance for GPs and their teams launched

'Supporting Carers: An action guide for GPs and their teams' is the title of a new guide launched by the Princess Royal Trust for Carers (PRTC) and the RCGP.

Funded by the PRTC, it aims to demonstrate how GPs are able to build upon their existing good practice in recognising and supporting unpaid family carers in their practices.

Caring can take its toll on someone's physical and mental health and well-being. It is vital that carers are identified and supported at the earliest stage possible so that they have access to the support they need.

The PRTC says that GPs are often the first point of contact which is why they can be instrumental in making a difference to their lives.
