The group will review the representation of sessional GPs within the BMA, GPC and at local level in LMCs.

Dr Mark Selman, a locum GP in Devon, will chair the working group.

‘This is going to be a robust group with some formidable characters from the sessional GP world,' said Dr Selman.

The group also includes GPC negotiator Dr Beth McCaron-Nash and Sessional GP Subcommittee chairman Dr Vicky Weeks.

The group has been set up amid calls for a separate union for sessional GPs and concerns over worsening relations between salaried GPs and partners.
