Bids made to assess indicators as part of QOF review

The RCGP has submitted a joint bid with the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre (NPCRDC) to assess quality indicators as part of the new QOF review process.

If successful, the RCGP and NPCRDC will review the evidence base and cost effectiveness of indicators and submit reports to the NICE committee reviewing indicators for inclusion in the QOF.

The committee will then prioritise suggestions for both clinical and health improvement indicators to be included in the QOF.

The RCGP said that although the tender was subject to a competitive process, NICE would not be selecting from a 'cast of thousands' in deciding which group to appoint.

The college expects to hear the outcome of NICE decision process imminently.
