28 violent patients in Northern Ireland excluded from practices

The Northern Health and Social Services Board in Northern Ireland has the most patients currently excluded from GP practice lists because of violent behaviour (12).

The Southern board has eight, Eastern seven and there is one in the Western Board.

A spokesman for the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety said: ‘There is a directed enhanced service in place which ensures that there are sufficient arrangements in place to provide primary medical services to patients who have been subject to immediate removal from a patient list.'

A parliamentary answer earlier this month revealed that there were 267 patients in England removed from GP lists due to an act or threat of violence in 2005/6.
