£1m spent on revalidation support team

Revalidation has moved a step closer as CMO for England Sir Liam Donaldson confirmed the implementation team for England and £1m funding to support it.

The team of senior doctors will provide professionally informed leadership, support and advice to the NHS, patients and doctors’ representatives for the design and delivery of the process, ensuring that all doctors meet the standards expected of them.

Sir Liam said: ‘Their expertise and experience will be a critical source of advice and support in making that happen.’

There are three revalidation support team members, one of which is a GP. He is Dr Martin Shelley. GP Dr Nick Lyons is one of two of the team’s medical directors.
