Video: 'Dangerous' contract made junior doctor strike inevitable, says GP trainee

East London GP trainee Dr Sarah McConnell joined junior doctor strikes to protest against a contract offer that she believes is dangerous to patients and doctors. Watch a short video interview below.

Speaking to GPonline outside the Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel, Dr McConnell said the GP recruitment crisis would get worse if the junior doctor contract was implemented in its current form.

GP leaders have said that the impact of strikes on general practice services will be minimal, despite thousands of GP trainees being expected to join industrial action.

The strikes by junior doctors are the first in 40 years, and have gone ahead after emergency talks with the government broke down.
