UnitedHealth's career opportunities praised by GP

American health giant UnitedHealth offers some of 'the best salaried jobs' in general practice, a London GP has said.

Dr Kate Adams, who practices in Hackney, east London, told the BMA’s GPs-to-be conference in central London on Friday: ‘I could work for UnitedHealth. If I weren't in my job now I'd consider applying for them.’

A colleague who works for the company told her ‘he thinks he's got one of the best salaried jobs out there’, she said.

Asked to elaborate, she praised the company’s system of mentoring and its respect for the BMA’s model contract.

‘Don't necessarily write off the private sector,’ she added. ‘You'd lose your NHS pension, but that's not the be all and end all.’
