GP trainers in Wales will now receive full superannuation on the trainer's grant after the Welsh Assembly agreed last month to fund the employer's 14 per cent contribution. The value of the grant to the country's 120 trainers with a registrar in practice will rise this year from £7,024 to £8,007. Dr Malcolm Lewis, director of postgraduate education for general practice for Wales said claims submitted in this financial year would be dated back to April 2005 and 'in exceptional cases' to April 2004. 'We are delighted. It's good for trainer morale,' he said.
