Templates issued to appeal survey

The GPC has issued a template letter for GPs wishing to appeal the results of this year's patient experience survey.

GPs in England and Wales should complete the letter to 'initiate a formal dispute' with their primary care organisations (PCOs), a spokeswoman for the BMA said.

The disputed survey funds the PE7 and PE8 component of the QOF, worth 58.5 points or £7,416 to an average-size practice.

GPC chairman Dr Laurence Buckman has warned that the UK-wide results will echo those in Scotland.

Results there have had a 'devastating' effect on practices, he said, with one Lanarkshire practice reporting losses of £16,000.

The GPC is issuing different appeal templates for practices in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Last week GP reported that the NHS Confederation does not think appeals will be successful (GP, 29 May). It said that the GPC had signed up to the contractual terms and PCOs would take this into account.

The template is available at www.bma.org
