Sick men urged to consult pharmacists

One in three men suffer back pain but only one in 20 seeks pharmacy advice, according to the Proprietary Association of Great Britain (PAGB).

The UK trade association representing OTC medicines and food supplement manufacturers says men should consider seeking help from pharmacists more often.

Gopa Mitra, PAGB director of health policy and public affairs, said: ‘Many men suffer in silence when they experience ill health but there are many sources of easy to access health information available.

‘For example, the pharmacist can conveniently provide expert health advice on how to treat minor ailments, prevention of illness and how to lead a healthy lifestyle.’
