The announcement coincides with reports of another UK case of swine flu, which brings the overall number of cases to 10.

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety has also confirmed that eight people are currently being tested for swine flu in Northern Ireland, as the virus threatens to spread to the country for the first time.

Meanwhile, a survey of 142 GP locums conducted by the National Association of Sessional GPs (NASGP) has revealed that 86% of locums have not received any flu alerts from their PCT.

The NASGP warns that this represents about 13,000 GPs not being on PCTs’ alerting cascade system for flu pandemics.
