The training is designed for healthcare professionals and coincides with a National Patient Safety Agency report in safer administration of insulin.

The NPSA warns that insulin is frequently included in the list of the top 10 high-alert medicines worldwide, because of the high risk of patient injury if it is misused.

The training covers types and doses of insulin as well as timing and methods of administration.

NHS Diabetes estimates the training will take 90 minutes to complete. It is available free of charge from the NHS Diabetes website.
