Responsible officers: government launches new consultation

The DoH is consulting on the regulations surrounding responsible officers.

Responsible officers will be senior doctors, responsible for monitoring and appraising staff performance. The government consulted on their role and responsibilities last year.

Clare Chapman, the NHS director of workforce, said that the new consultation will allow 'all stakeholders to shape the regulation which will come into force on 1 October 2010'.
