Research brief: Britain's worst day

GPs should expect an influx of patients with depressive symptoms on Monday because January 23 has been officially named as the UK's unhappiest day. Researchers at Cardiff University report that the combination of bad weather, seasonal debt and the long wait until Christmas make this Monday the gloomiest date in the calendar (www.cardiff.ac.uk).
