RCGP research has shown that funding in general practice across the UK has fallen in real terms year on year to a record low of 8.39% of the overall NHS budget and our campaign calls for general practice to receive 11% by 2017.

Dr Baker has sent a letter to all CCGs in England urging them to use the funds available to them to invest in general practice, specifically the £5 per patient fund that NHS England have recommended that CCGs put aside to enable ‘accountable GPs’ to secure improved services for vulnerable older people.

The Twitter chat will begin with a discussion about what GPs could do to #PutPatientsFirst with more resources.

RCGP spokesman Daniel Openshaw said: ‘We are hoping that lots of GPs and our campaign partners, and patients, will get involved and we hope that you will be interested in participating too.’
