Pharmacists urge DoH to consider patient access and safety

Patient access and safety are the overriding considerations in the debate around Control of Entry to pharmacies, according to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.

The Pharmacy White Paper suggests that any practice within a mile of a pharmacist would no longer be able to dispense.

Dispensing practices fear they could lose more than 40 per cent of their income, threatening practice viability.

Steve Churton, the society’s president, said: ‘The White Paper sets out an ambitious vision for pharmacy. We are committed to working with all parties to turn the vision into reality without delay – so that the public can fully benefit from the skills and expertise of pharmacists.’
