Pharmacists earn 12.7 per cent funding increase

A 12.7 per cent funding increase has been agreed by the DoH and Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC).

There will be an average increase in payments per prescription of 50.6p until the end of the financial year and 20.4p per item thereafter pending settlement of funding for 2009/10.

For a pharmacy contractor dispensing 6,000 items, this represents an increased monthly income of over £3,000 for the remainder of 2008/9 and an increase in allowed funding from 2007/8 to 2008/9 of 12.7 per cent.
