Video: RCGP chairman on what the White Paper will mean for GPs
By Tom Ireland, 09 August 2010
Speaking exclusively to Healthcare Republic, RCGP chairman Professor Steve Field answers some of the key questions being asked following the publication of the health White Paper.
In this short video, Professor Field reveals how ‘the biggest short-term challenge’ will be to ensure practices that have never worked together join up, share data and commission in groups.
He warns that the profession ‘must do everything to resist private companies taking over consortia’.
He calls for failing commissioning groups to be given help by the new NHS Commissioning Board or merged with neighbouring consortia.
Professor Field also tells Healthcare Republic how he thinks revalidation will work when PCTs and SHAs are abolished.
