News in brief: MHRA investigates false-negative pregnancy tests

The MHRA has launched an investigation into Clearview HCG pregnancy test kits (lot HG0050) following cases of false negative results. The affected lot, which contained 83,000 kits, was distributed to 50 UK hospitals between March and April this year. The MHRA advises that women who have had a negative test but are concerned they may be pregnant should seek advice from a doctor, walk-in centre, family planning clinic or pharmacist.
