News in brief: Medical students secure first choice schools

Medical students have welcomed the DoH announcement that 93 per cent of foundation year one applicants have obtained a place in their first-choice Foundation School. Health minister Lord Philip Hunt said last week that over 90 per cent of the 6,465 students were allocated where they wanted to go by the Medical Training Application Service. This year’s applicants will find out by 29 March if they have gained a place at their preferred school.
