MPs refuse to debate GP's popular anti-Health Bill e-petition

A GP's anti-Health Bill e-petition which won more support than any other will not be debated in parliament despite passing the 100,000-signature mark.

Greater Manchester GP and NHS Tameside and Glossop chairman Dr Kailash Chand's petition which called on the government to drop the Health Bill was backed by more than 162,000 signatures.

Labour MP for Stalybridge and Hyde Jonathan Reynolds presented the e-petition to the Backbench Business Committee of the Commons.

Asked why the petition was declined and what would happen next, he tweeted:
