MHRA sets child paracetamol dose

Guidelines for paracetamol dosing in children have been updated by the MHRA, with specific doses defined for a larger number of age bands.

Updated MHRA dosage system:
Doses to be given up to four times in 24 hours

Formulation Age Dose
Infant paracetamol suspension(120mg/5ml) 3–6 months 
2.5ml
6–24 months 5ml
2–4 years
7.5ml
4–6 years 10ml
Paracetamol six plus suspension (240 or 250mg/5ml) 6–8 years 5ml
8–10 years
7.5ml
10–12 years 10ml
