Manager seeks innovation to deliver NHS care

Scouting out innovative ways to deliver even better health services at a time of high cost pressures in the NHS is a priority for a local healthcare manager.

Nicky Smith, (pictured) a service development manager for Norfolk Community Health and Care, believes that developing innovative ideas has never been more important than at a time when healthcare providers must continue to improve quality of care for patients while facing a need to increase cost efficiencies.

Her role as innovation scout is part of a wider project encompassing England.

She said: ‘I think the key message is that coming up with innovative ideas and improvements is a ‘must-do' for everyone in the NHS. We all know that there are serious budgetary constraints facing us, and so we must all do what we can to ensure that the quality of healthcare for patients does not suffer.'
