Lightning strike damages GP practice roof and phone lines

An Aberdeenshire practice was left with faulty phone lines after lightning damaged its roof in storms that hit the UK this week.

Patients at the Fyvie Oldmeldrum Medical Group in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, have been given a temporary number - 01651 871515 - by Grampian Health Board until engineers restore the phone lines.

Forecasters have warned of new storms on Saturday and Sunday after parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland were flooded earlier this week.
