Letters: Why the secrecy over Carr-Hill formula?

Thank you for yet another excellent article by Chris Lancelot (GP, 8 August).

He says that the much-ridiculed Carr-Hill formula should be published. And surely, in the interests of 'openness and transparency', it should be.

Our PCT (Mid Essex) is very cautious about releasing information about weighting and GP's incomes. I'm not sure why this has to be cloaked in secrecy. I always suspect that there is a good reason when people are reticent about handing over information that should be in the public domain.

Dr John Cormack, South Woodham Ferrers, Essex.
