Letters: Personal experience not best template for NHS

While it is pleasing to know that Mark Britnell has made good use of extended hours and that he thought the GP and surgeons were fantastic, I do not think that personal experience is a good basis for planning the health policy of a nation (GP, 24 April).

Sadly health policy is all too often guided by the personal experiences of our politicians and senior administrators instead of by best clinical practice, financial resource, measured outcomes and collated feedback from a large sample of different health service users.

Dr Gillian Francis, Wirral.
