Letters: GP's career destroyed by complaint

It is a sad story that Dr D's career came to an abrupt end because of a simple incident, despite her position and shiny career. This shows how fragile and how vulnerable we are indeed, alas!

This shows any Tom, Dick or Harry with a little grudge or bias can destroy you. We are such a weak profession. What a pity. £25,000 is a joke. No amount is going to compensate Dr D now.

What happened to the caring profession, looking after and supporting the staff? This should not have happened at all. It is so typical of what is happening right through the health profession.

I feel too much power has been given to PCTs. I have seen a few GPs being mistreated. I was one too. Luckily, I'm still in the same job. I blame ourselves - we have a lot of power we don't use.

As a result of our perceived impotence we are instrumental in destroying general practice as we know it and, for that matter, for coming generations too. We just sit there like a lion and allow mice to take over our profession. I for one will be leaving the GP world - I've had enough.
