Letters, calls and emails: DoH’s pay climb-down should be made public

Dear Editor

The government’s reply to the GP article (GP, 8 December 2006) and its admission that it estimated GPs’ earnings wrongly are not sufficient (healthcarerepublic.com).

There should be an apology in the national press so that the public knows exactly what this government is like.

If I made an error of such magnitude in my patient care I would be sued, and answerable to the GMC and all the other quangos established by this government.

Not only is a national apology warranted; someone has to be made accountable for this cock-up.
