Letters, calls and emails: Is DoH confused about community hospitals?

Dear Editor

Dr David Colin-Thomé states in his report that more consultants should work in community hospitals (GP, 9 February).

When does this government become joined up in its thinking?

I ask because last week’s papers claimed that Patricia Hewitt now states that there is no target for the keeping open of community hospitals — as there was a few months ago (‘Patients’ fury as pledge on 50 hospitals is dropped’, Daily Telegraph, 8 February).

Thus there will be no community hospitals for these consultants to work from.

Has Patricia told David, or is he employed by the Treasury?
