Letter: GP brings realism to the dementia debate

After the tepid defence by the RCGP, thank you to the anonymous GP who brought realism into the debate on prescribing antipsychotics to dementia patients (GP, 29 January).

We all know they need to be used; we all know that waiting weeks for psychotherapy for an aggressively demented patient is just plain daft.

If only this government would allow us to apply common sense to such situations.
