Your ideal romantic getaway

To celebrate the fact that Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, GP asked you to send us your favourite location for a romantic weekend break with your loved one.

Judging by your replies, there are still some old romantics out there who like nothing better than to go away together and get all starry-eyed. Thank you to all those who responded. Here is a selection of our favourite entries to get you in the mood for 14 February.

Dr Lisa Randall, a GP from Hampshire, says her favourite location is the Isle of Skye in Scotland. ‘I spent my honeymoon there and every time we go back we fall in love all over again,’ she says.

Dr Janet Shek, a GP in Edinburgh, likes nothing better than strolling down the cobbled streets of Prague. She says: ‘We love cruising down the river and admiring the castle at sunset while we listen to violin music with torchlights.’

Dr Jim Lawrie from London loves to stay at The Dog and Partridge in Ashbourne, Derbyshire for its ‘excellent local food and log fires’.

Dr Catherine Ellis, a GP in Leicestershire, prefers a cosy weekend at home with the phone off the hook and ‘just the two of us spending uninterrupted time together’.

Congratulations to Dr Lisa Randall who was randomly selected to win a huge box of chocolates to share with her special someone. Just in time for Valentine’s Day.
