Healthcare assistant recognition on agenda at Unison conference

Healthcare assistant recognition and NHS privatisation are among the issues to be debated at Unison's healthcare conference, which begins in Brighton on Monday.

Health secretary Andy Burnham (pictured) is expected to join nurses, healthcare assistants, therapists and paramedics at the three-day event.

Other debates will include staff shortages, excessive workloads, sickness absence, pay, NHS pensions and NHS funding.

Around 1,200 delegates and visitors are expected at the event.
